Process

How the Work Happens

A calm, transparent process designed to protect your timeline and deliver a refined result—without overpromising.

The core idea

Structure first → refinement → finishing.

Most frustration in alterations comes from doing details too early. At Miloni’s Couture, work moves in phases so the fit stays stable and the final finishing stays clean.

  • Phase 1: structure and support (bodice, balance, stress points).
  • Phase 2: refinement (shape, proportion, comfort tweaks).
  • Phase 3: finishing (hems, closures, detail placement, pressing).

You’ll know what’s happening, why it matters, and what’s next.

Appointments & communication

Clear, respectful, practical.

  • By appointment only for privacy and focus.
  • Written scope after the first fitting for predictable planning.
  • Direct recommendations — if a change isn’t advisable, you’ll be told clearly.
  • Response time: typically within 1–2 business days.
Step-by-step

The full process

This is the typical flow. Some projects require more steps (heirloom/vintage), and some require fewer (simple hems). You’ll be told what applies to your garment.

1

Message & intake

Share your event date, garment type, and 2–4 photos. You’ll receive availability and a short checklist.

2

First appointment (pin fitting)

We assess fit, balance, and movement. You’ll get a plan that matches your priorities and timeline.

3

Estimate & scope confirmation

You receive a written estimate based on what the garment allows structurally. You approve before work proceeds.

4

Work in phases

Structure first, then refinement, then finishing. This keeps the final silhouette consistent and prevents surprises.

5

Check fitting (if needed)

We confirm the work sits correctly and feels comfortable before finishing details are locked in.

6

Final fitting & pickup

Movement test, bustle practice (if applicable), quick care guidance, and a calm handoff.

What to bring

A smoother fitting starts with the right items.

  • Your dress/garment (and any detachable pieces).
  • Shoes you plan to wear (or same heel height).
  • Undergarments/shapewear you plan to wear.
  • Reference photos if you have a specific fit goal.
  • For bridal: wedding date, venue type, and movement needs (stairs, sand, etc.).

Policies that protect your timeline

Clear boundaries keep schedules realistic.

  • Scheduling: appointments are limited and reserved in advance.
  • Changes: scope changes can affect timeline and cost; you’ll approve before adjustments proceed.
  • Rush requests: availability varies; feasibility is confirmed before booking.
  • Privacy: fittings are private, with careful garment handling.
